As you all know, St. John’s is once again helping the school systems ensure that children don’t go hungry over the summer break. More than half of children in Buncombe County receive free or reduced cost lunch. They live in “food insecure” homes which means they don’t where their next meal will come from. The lunch program ensures ANY child in buncombe County receives a nutritious lunch Monday through Friday during the summer.
We have committed to every Monday from June 19 through August 14 at Spruce Hill Apartments in Haw Creek. Arrive at 12:00 p.m. and you’ll leave by 1:30… having spent a delightful time with a bunch of kids!
You don’t need to volunteer every Monday… at least one Monday will help Pat, Tim, Leslie and me make sure these kids get a lunch… and a smile!
Just e-mail me with the day you can help:

Spruce Hill Apartments Summer Lunch Program: Once again this year, St. John’s will be providing lunch meals to the children living at Spruce Hill Apartments in Haw Creek. The food will be supplied by the Buncombe County Schools. Assigned days for St. John’s will be each Monday from June 19th through August 14th. Our thanks to Pat Leckey, Stacy Anderson and Leslie Anderson for once again serving as our site supervisors. We will need one or two additional volunteers to assist at the site each Monday from noon until 1:00 or 1:30. If you have any questions or are interested in assisting with this outreach opportunity please contact Tim Rhodes at 545-8834 to sign up for available slots through the summer. Thanks for your consideration.
