The Rev. Joan Grant has been called to serve as rector at St. John’s in Haw Creek in Asheville. Joan joins St. John’s from Kalispell, Montana, (just south of Glacier National Park) where she served as rector of Christ Church for five years. She originally hails from the Diocese of Southern Ohio, having grown up in Columbus, and lived also for many years in the Cincinnati area after a four-year-stint in Southeast Florida. She was ordained as a priest in 2010 after graduating from Bexley Hall in Columbus, Ohio. She previously served 7 years as a deacon in Southern Ohio. Joan is the mother of two adult children — a daughter who lives in Nashville, and a son who lives in Brussels, Belgium — and also has a five-year-old granddaughter. She loves hiking, swimming, and birding; was a college French major, and worked as an attorney in Ohio for 17 years before entering seminary. She is thrilled to have been called to Asheville and St. John’s, and looks forward to getting to know the Diocese here.
